San Diego State's athletic department has been notified by the NCAA that the investigation into the SDSU men's basketball team has been dropped, Channel 7 reports.
The SDSU men’s basketball program was under investigation by the NCAA following a report by CBS Sports that they were allegedly committing recruiting violations, such as offering perks to incoming freshman players and their families.
Men's basketball head coach Steve Fisher said in a statement, "I am pleased that this confirms what I and our administration have known all along, that as a staff, we take great pride in representing San Diego State University and the men’s basketball program, and conducting this program with the highest integrity."
If the allegations were found to be true, the team could have faced Level One violations, which "seriously undermine or threaten the integrity of the NCAA collegiate model."
The NCAA called the allegations "unfounded."
"I appreciate the NCAA’s efforts to thoroughly look into this matter as well as the conclusion that there was no wrongdoing," Fisher said.
